Morjes!

Welcome to my blog. I write about fitting in, sticking out, and missing the motherland as a serial foreigner.

Winter cycling

Winter cycling

Today I am grateful for these winter cycling gloves that Jeremy got me (on sale for €19!). They are thick and warm and they have treads on the palm area so I can shift gears. But the best part is that they have split fingers so I can brake while still maintaining a grip on the handlebars!

Another thing I am grateful for is studded bike tires. Jeremy put them on my bike a few weeks ago and they are really, really grippy. It makes for slightly more resistance on the road on dry/non-icy days, but it's worth it.

Turku is running a winter cycling campaign this year, trying to get more people to ride their bikes year-round. Certain bike paths have been designated as winter routes, and I think those paths are going to get extra grooming this year. We'll see how it goes!
