The church services we attend here in Amman end at 12.30, which means that we arrive home during the midday services at the neighborhood mosque. We can hardly make it down the road to our house because of all the cars parked there. The picture above shows many of them, but the impromptu parking lot extends up and around the corner and even into the traffic circle on the main road.
I don't know if this situation is true across Amman or just in our neighborhood. In Damascus, there were so many mosques that I don't think anyone lived outside of walking distance from one. Then again, maybe it's just because of the difference in income levels between where we lived in Damascus and where we're living now.
